Tips for a Perfect Resume

  • References are not necessary at this stage, though you should prepare a list in case an employer requests them later in the process. A referee should be able to comment on your skills and abilities, and will often be someone you’ve worked with in the past, such as a supervisor or co-worker. List their name, relationship and current phone number on a separate sheet of paper, but do not send with your resume.
  • Use short sentences and positive action words to make your descriptions as dynamic as possible. Avoid using the pronoun I when describing achievements, as it can make you sound arrogant. Instead of I initiated a new strategy with product vendors use note form and say Initiated new strategies with product vendors to improve quality of service, resulting in a 85% customer retention rate. Examples of action words that you can use are: completed, conducted, demonstrated, designed, established, expanded, implemented, increased etc.
  • Don’t view your resume as simply a record of your work history. Instead see it as a way to promote the skills and abilities you have to offer an employer. Put the focus on the employer’s needs and how you can be a solution to their problems. Try to anticipate any questions they may raise and incorporate the answers within the text of your resume.
  • Employers are looking for professional and efficient candidates, so avoid flashy and overblown hype when describing your achievements. Stick to the facts and avoid too many adjectives. Try not to overuse vocabulary taken from job advertisements or list the same cliche personal qualities as everybody else.
  • Be honest. Anything you state in your resume could be challenged in an interview, so don’t make any claims that you cannot prove. Things like employment dates and salary can be easily checked. Overstating the truth could come back to haunt you later.
  • Your resume should present you in the most positive light possible. Avoid any negativity and never criticize or make reference to any difficulties you may have had with a previous employer. Never include reasons for leaving a job, whether negative or positive. This is information that can be discussed later in an interview situation.
  • Avoid listing interests and hobbies, unless they demonstrate qualities that are applicable to the job’s requirements.
  • Avoid any mention of political or religious views.

Resume Presentation Tips

  • Employers and recruiters are far too busy to wade through your life story, so aim for a maximum of two pages. Academics and IT employees that need to list lots of technical information, can do so as an appendix on a third page.
  • Most employers will quickly scan a resume for 10 or 20 seconds before making up their minds to continue reading, so you need to make your resume as easy to read as possible. Avoid cramming too much text on the page and use lots of whitespace to make the most important facts stand out.
  • Use a single font and type size that is easy to read, such as Times New Roman, Arial or Verdana (10 or 12 point). You can use a slightly larger font size for headings (14 point) in bold or all caps. Avoid underlining and italics, as it can make your resume look cluttered.
  • Spell check and proofread your resume for typos, spelling and punctuation errors. Make sure any company names mentioned are correct and get a friend to look over your resume before submitting it to a potential employer. Remember your resume represents you and you don’t want to be seen as careless.

Planning A Cheap Las Vegas Travel

Las Vegas is a place for getting that dream vacation that you were dreaming of, in which you could indulge in your preferred vices without guilt or haggling from your wife or pesky neighbor. But then you must have a small fortune to indulge in a place that seems to be a black hole for money. A cheap Las Vegas Travel should then be well thought out in order to survive the experience. Your first concern if you are from a far place is of course how to get there.

Getting there by air is an obvious choice as it is the means by which people from near or far use to get there. But since you are cutting out on your expenses why not use your car if you are just living in the United States or its neighboring countries or better yet, ride the bus. A bus trip takes longer but it surely is cheaper. And you do not have to drive yourself on your way to cheap Las Vegas travel. But because you require privacy, or at least until you get there, your car will be your first choice. Routes that offer the least cost for you should be taken. This could reduce mileage and consequently fuel cost. What is more, you will be less tired when you reach Las Vegas. Once within the city your next move will be to find that hotel that offers the cheapest rate in town yet is not so cheap when it comes to amenities. It may take some time and is a boring task but yet consistent with your planned cheap Las Vegas travel.

If you are not traveling alone perhaps it might be well if you could have a contingency plan for emergency situations like a companion getting sick or suddenly developing some jitters which is sometimes encountered when traveling in a group. Such contingencies can save much in fuel cost in searching for a hospital or a professional that will give the necessary help. Repair shops along the way should also be identified in case your vehicle suddenly develops engine trouble. This could also help you in avoiding those situations where you might be robbed because your car happened to stop in the remotest place on the highway. In such ways a well designed cheap Las Vegas travel plan is developed.

The duration of your stay should also be taken into consideration. The longer you stay in a city of vices, the more you will have to spend. Budget your money to last your stay. If you are going gambling make sure you know how to quit and not spend all your gambling money in one night. Food allocation should also be considered in your cheap Las Vegas travel plan. Hotels in the area of course include meals in their daily rates but these may not be to your liking and you might end up searching the town for cheap restaurants to satisfy your hunger.

All Slots Casino may not be the most impressive one when it comes to the website design but the variety of casino games make this operator very requested among players.

How To Find A Cheap Hotel In Vegas – Planning Your Stay

Las Vegas can be a very expensive city and that is why when traveling there you need to do whatever you can to find the cheapest hotel In Vegas. Something that most people don’t know is that Las Vegas is there for one reason and one reason only, to make money through gamblers. The hotel industry in Las Vegas isn’t the most lucrative but they do offer some great deals when the time is right.

In the last article I showed you how you can get great deals if you book your reservation during the week, stay during the week and also by making the hotels batter for your business. In this article I will show you some other methods that you probably have never even heard of.

  1. Stay for a full week – I know this may sound silly especially if you were only planning on staying for a couple days, but if you plan to stay in Las Vegas for 4-5 days you might get a better rate if you stay for an entire week. The way this works is you call the hotel that you want to stay at and ask for their weekly rate for the week you want to stay there. I can almost bet you that they will give you a deal where your room rate comes out to be about as much as it did when only staying for 5 days.

  1. Book in advance – If you are planning to travel to Vegas then I recommend paying for your room and flight much sooner because hotels and airlines always like to get money for something that they won’t have to commit to until a later date. If this doesn’t really make sense to you don’t worry about it, just know that booking your reservations early will mean a substantial savings.

Something that I always try to do is book my vacations at least 1 month prior to leaving and the reasons for that area because I get a better deal and I also have enough time to plan out my vacation. There is nothing worse than going on vacation and not knowing what to do or anything about the city you are in and when it comes to Las Vegas there is so much to do and see that you really need to do a diligent job of planning the trip.

If you are not exactly sure what you can do in Las Vegas then now is the time to learn, in the next article I am going to show you how to find cheap lodging in Las Vegas as opposed to just cheap hotels. The once thing I strongly recommend that anybody who is looking for cheap hotel is to not stay too far downtown. There are hotels there that are rented on a hourly basis and aren’t in the best part of town. Just stick to what you are learning right here and you will be able to find a great deal on a wonderful room.

How To Find Cheap Lodging In Las Vegas

The difference between the last couple articles and this one is the fact that I won’t talk about finding deal on hotels, I will only be showing you how to find deals on condos and apartments.

The reason I would recommend staying in a condo or an apartment is because then you can buy groceries and cook your food instead of buying it. This works very well if you are traveling with a bunch of people or have small children that don’t like a lot of different kinds of food. The first thing you must do is find a list of a bunch of places that offer deals on apartments and condos for a few days or longer. The places I look are on Ebay, Craigslist and the Las Vegas Newspaper.
Craigslist

The easiest way I have found to find great deals on apartments and condos is to look for people who are trying to rent out their condos and apartments. The reason why you can get great deals is because these people need to rent them out in order to make money so if you go in a time where they don’t have a renter then you will get even better deals.

If you have not used Craigslist then I don’t know where you have been in the past 5 years, but Craigslist is the biggest free classified ads site online and because of that everyone uses it to post their stuff.

Ebay

Ebay isn’t the best place to find deals, but when they have some they are really good. What I use Ebay for is to see if I can find any people who have bought a timeshare that want to rent it out for their time instead of using it. This isn’t a hot item on Ebay so your competition won’t be as fierce.

Las Vegas Newspaper

The paper is where most people can find deals, but the problem is if you don’t have access to a paper then you won’t find all the deals. You can look online but the problem is that the Las Vegas Newspaper has a package that you can either advertise online, in the paper or both and they all have different costs, so most people won’t use the online ads as a way to advertise.

I hope these three things help you find cheaper lodging because I have used all three of them a few times each and they have always worked great for me. The one thing I want to make sure you always remember is that the best deals are made not found, so strike a deal when you see the opportunity arise.

Things To Do When Visiting Las Vegas

There are so many different things you can do when you are in Las Vegas. Gambling just so happens to be what most people do, but since many people are coming to Las Vegas with their families they are turning to doing more family fun activities such as sightseeing, swimming, live shows and shopping.

If you have not been to Las Vegas before then you are in for a treat. The very first time I was in Las Vegas I was trapped inside the casino because I didn’t know what else there was and at that time there wasn’t anything for kids, it was an adults only city. I know just how much fun Las Vegas can be once you know a few fun things to do other than gambling away all your money.

Fremont Street Lightshow

The one thing I didn’t even know was there when I went to Fremont Street was the overhead lightshow that goes every hour at night. If you have not been to see the Fremont Street Lightshow I highly recommend it. It is located right next to one of the most historical hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, The Golden Nugget Casino And Hotel.

The thing I love about the light show is that there are so many shops and restaurants there that you can sit outside and eat under the show. A couple of the best times to come to see the light show are on July 4th and on New Year’s Eve.

Sightseeing

A few things that you must see with a tour guide are Wayne Newton’s house, new casinos, the historic areas such as where many of the biggest robberies happened and where some of the first casinos were built, and also a look at Hoover dam, one of the biggest dams in the world.

Swimming

Did you know that just because you aren’t a guest at the hotel the hotel will still let you swim at their pool as long as you are a customer? What this means is that you only have to buy one drink in order to swim, so you can see every pool in Las Vegas by simply buying a drink. You probably would have bought a drink anyway, so why not do it while you see all the great pools in Vegas?

Stratosphere

If you have not seen the Stratosphere in action then that is a thing to see in itself. The Stratosphere is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and is the tallest building in Las Vegas by far. There have been many improvements in the Stratosphere and most recently they have included a ride called the SkyJump which lets you fall off the Stratosphere over 800 feet. On top of that thrill you can also ride the Big Shot which is the highest thrill ride in the entire world.

As you can see there is so much more to do in Las Vegas than just gamble so take your time when you are there to do something that will provide memories for a lifetime, not just depending on whether you win or lose.

Las Vegas Hotel Review

How to spend time in Las Vegas?

If you plan to stay in Las Vegas then you have made a wonderful decision. Las Vegas is full of entertainment and fun. The only thing Las Vegas is missing is the beach, oh wait, there are man-made beaches a few of the hotels.

Since I have been to Las Vegas many times and stayed at most of the Hotels I have a very good understanding of what they have to offer and which hotel is right for the amount of money that they charge. If you want to see exactly what you can do at each hotel then keep reading because I am about to give you quick review of 3 hotels and casinos in Las Vegas.

MGM Grand

The MGM Grand is perhaps the most well-known casino in the world for many reasons. MGM owns many casinos all over the world and because of that they have a very high and well-known reputation. Something I love about the MGM Grand are all the different types of entertainment they have there such as the shows, boxing, and conventions. The MGM Grand is more than just a hotel and casino, they are a full blown city behind walls.

Stratosphere

The thing I love about the Stratosphere is the fact that it not only has a very nice hotel and casino but it also has a lot of things to do for entertainment such as; the Big Shot, SkyJump, and a few other very well known rides. Another thing I like about the Stratosphere is the fact that you can get a very good deal on one of the nicest hotels in Las Vegas simply because it isn’t located in the middle or the Las Vegas Strip. The casino and hotel is located at the end of the strip and because of the more people are willing to stay there for the cheaper costs because they can get a full view of the strip at night, which isn’t something any other hotel can offer.

Golden Nugget

Something most people don’t know about the Golden Nugget is that it was one of the very first casinos and hotels in Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget is more for adults because it is located in the older part of Las Vegas, Fremont Street which mostly consists of clubs and casinos. There is so much to do around the Golden Nugget such as seeing the Fremont Street Experience which is a lightshow that is about 90 feet overhead and stretches over 4 blocks long. This is truly something to see when you are on Fremont Street because you won’t ever see anything like it anywhere else in the world. Just remember that if you have small children who can’t gamble and drink then the Golden Nugget probably won’t be the best place to be, it is geared more for the adult gambler.

All three of the hotels and casinos are great but the biggest different between them all is the price. The most expensive on is the MGM Grand and the cheapest one is the Golden Nugget. Don’t get me wrong when I say it is the cheapest one, it is still a very nice hotel and casino.
